A brief portrait of Dr. Wlk

 

Dr. Matthias Wlk completed his doctorate in 1998 at the Medical Faculty in Vienna and took his specialist training at the Orthopedic Hospital Speising from 2002 to 2006.

After several stays abroad related to educational, research & clinical activities in both the US and UK, Dr. Wlk was appointed Senior Physician of the Orthopedic Department of the Sacred Heart Hospital in Vienna in 2007. Since 2011 he has been Head of the Outpatient Hand Clinic there.

From the beginning, Dr. Wlk has gained extensive experience and a wide range of diagnostics and treatment options due to his complementary professional activity of outpatient work and work in his practice.
As a holistically trained orthopedist, he carefully considers both a conservative treatment and a surgical procedure depending on the patient.

Dr. Wlk is a specialist in the field of upper extremities and arthroplasty (hip, knee), hand and rheumatic surgery as well as various sports injuries and provides conservative and innovative treatments for an operation-free therapy in the field of pain therapy.
The holistic diagnosis is crucial for Dr. Wlk. Using his extensive experience, education and practical work, he gets to the bottom of the fundamental pain and deals with both simple and complex cases.

Dr. Wlk performs surgical interventions in the Herz-Jesu Hospital as well as in the private hospital Rudolfinerhaus and Evangelisches Krankenhaus in Vienna. All hospitals have excellent infrastructures. The Herz-Jesu Hospital is considered Austria’s leading clinic in the field of shoulder, hand and foot surgery as well as in the field of hip and knee arthroplasty.

In his public health insurance practice (opens Sept 2019) , Dr. Wlk offers the entire spectrum of classical orthopedics. As an avid athlete, his focus is on detailed advice for sports overload and on indication of surgical procedures.
